It’s amazing what having a regularly scheduled morning routine can do for your entire life. Having a few good habits that you continuously do each morning can help you stay positive by giving you something to look forward to each day. Developing some morning mindfulness habits are an easy way to keep your mind straight, reduce anxiety, and help push you forward no matter what life throws in your way.
I’m going to share the top five morning mindfulness habits with you as a means to help you find a way to live in a way that encourages a healthy mind and body.
5 Morning Mindfulness Habits
1. Make Yourself a Morning Tonic
Figure out what you enjoy drinking in the morning. It could be apple cider vinegar tea to improve digestive health or a lemon ginger tea to detox your body a bit before your long day. Having a morning tonic that’s helpful to your mind and body in some form will ensure you’re focusing on having a positive start to your day. This will stimulate and encourage your body to do what it needs to do internally while you work on the next steps towards living a more mindfulness life.
2. Avoid Your Phone Like the Plague
Many people look at their smartphone first thing in the morning, this is a really bad habit and can suck you into negativity really quick. When you first wake up do not look at social media or your smartphone in general. This is not a way to start your day if you’re looking to be more positive and productive each day. Instead of looking at your phone, try to read a magazine or a good book in the morning to get your brain moving properly.
3. Get Up and Get Active
Find a good exercise routine that you can implement each morning. This exercise routine doesn’t have to more than 20 minutes of your time and could be as simple as going for a morning walk. While you’ll feel tired when you first start to implement a daily exercise routine, in time you’ll find that getting up and being active actually helps reduce stress and give you more energy for a longer period of time during your day.
4. Eat a Great Breakfast
While you may not be a morning eater, it is important to get some food into your system during the morning hours. Eating a great breakfast such as something that includes a healthy source of carbs, protein, and healthy fats will ensure you stay full longer and help give your body much-needed nutrients first thing for the day. You could even opt to have a specific breakfast smoothie if you’re not up for a full course breakfast meal.
5. Plan Out Your Day
Last, but not least, this morning mindfulness habit will ensure you have a focus for the day. Sit down and figure out what priorities you have today, choose about 1-3 important things that need to get done and then list off a few other smaller tasks so that you have a full day planned out. This helps keep your mind focused on tasks versus other stuff that may come up each day. Having a well-balanced plan to get important things done and take scheduled break times helps keep your mind healthy.
